As we approached
our 40th Anniversary, I began to consider what might be the
best model to celebrate this incredible achievement.
I currently have no plans to continue graphite composite production
so these
will be our last graphite composite basses.
We had already used our iconic Series-II to celebrate thirty
years of making unique
instruments so decided the next model should be a bass that appeared
way before its time,
one that looked like it was from the future.
The Series-2000
A few
years ago, I was given the opportunity to reclaim a selection
of original Series-2000s that had been moulded back in the 1980s
but for various reasons did not get used.
All these years later, I decided that if each of these basses
could be remastered
they would make a perfect modern vintage model.
After
extensive research and rigorous testing all these original mouldings
have been given a new lease of life.
Each
bass has now been modified to incorporate the same dual-action
truss-rod and Richlite phenolic fingerboard as currently fitted
to all Status basses. This allows adjustment of the neck to suit
different playing styles, string gauges and set-ups.
I have
personally made all the remastered pickups and circuits.
All use original PCBs and components where possible but some
replacement parts
were chosen to improve the quality and performance.
Although original pots are still available, I decided to incorporate
modern versions
as they are more consistent and will have a longer life-span.
The active circuits use an 18 volt supply with two PP3 batteries
wired in series.
Basses fitted with LEDs also have a separate LED battery.
All
basses have 18mm string spacing and are fitted with our signature,
vintage style,
headless hardware. Double-ball strings are fitted as standard
but regular single-ball can also be used by fixing with the locking
screws supplied with each bass.
The
40th Anniversary models have our original Status logo and the
Limited Edition serial number is engraved into the tuner plate.
The Limited Edition Series 2000 basses have
engraved brass back plates with their remastered serial number.
The
composite mouldings I have chosen for the anniversary models
have been lacquered and polished for the first time. The others
have either been completely stripped, resprayed and polished
or had detail refinishing in small areas as necessary and then
flatted and re-polished.
As these instruments are 'vintage' and were all moulded nearly
40 years ago
there may be some very minor cosmetic imperfections but nothing
that will affect
the structure or playability of the instrument.
There
are a handful with custom options such as LEDs and transparent
tints.
All
of these instruments have been remastered with as much authenticity
to the original as possible and finished to our usual exacting
high standard.
The
various model variations are highlighted on the individual pages
with more information on the specifications page.

PLEASE NOTE
There are only TWELVE 40th Anniversary basses.
Four x Natural, Two x Red Tint, Two x Blue Tint and Four FPPR.
All use versions of the earliest design of pickups and circuits
and have custom front and side LEDs.

There are a total of EIGHTEEN Limited Edition Series
2000 basses in two variations
which feature custom EQ and pickup combinations from different
eras.

All instruments
have now been completed.
There can be no modifications to the finished models.

We are a very
small team and I'm extremely proud of what we have achieved over
the
past 40+ years from our dedicated workshop here in Essex.
We ship all over the world and are honoured to say Made
in England.
I would particularly like to thank Dawn, Gerry, Roger and Steve
for all their hard work and support and for making this REMASTERED
project as special as it is.
Between us, we have a combined 165 years worth of experience.
I think we have all earned a jolly good rest.
I look forward to see what the future may hold for Status Graphite.
Many
thanks, Rob Green.
