Electro-5

The original Electro was first introduced exactly 30 years ago.



I have always really loved this bass and it has had a number of changes
over the three decades. Our production has changed considerably in the last few years
and I really wanted to go back and revisit it.

This latest version has the fundamental playability of previous models
but now with some detailed improvements.

Available with 4 or 5 strings and with a fretted, plain or lined fretless fingerboard.
The new Electro-5 creates a stunning sound spectrum.
Everything from warm 'string bass' tones through to punchy mids
and super-clear high frequencies.

The bridge is completely re-designed and features a height adjustable piezo pickup.
It is machined in our workshop from a solid block of Richlite phenolic material.

String spacing : 4-string = 18.3mm. 5-string = 16.5mm.

A single, custom-wound, hum-cancelling pickup is fitted.
It is then encased in a solid hardwood cover and positioned right on the 'sweet spot'.




4-string :

The body of the Electro-5 has a two-piece, hardwood body (mahogany or walnut).

An acoustic chamber is machined into the body before the
book-matched exotic facing is glue on.
This allows the body to resonate and have a warmer, more "open" response.

The three-piece maple neck has a dual-action truss-rod for ease of adjustment and
two graphite strengthening bars for stiffness and long term stability.

The piezo bridge unit and single neck pickup can be adjusted to give
a great combination of tones :

The piezo produces a wide frequency response and natural, "open" warmth
while the magnetic pickup adds punch and midrange character.

A pickup balance control blends the amount of each pickup
while the master volume sets the overall output.

Each pickup has a custom pre-shaped EQ which is set on the circuit board
but the height frequencies for each pickup can be adjusted independently.
